Located in Dayton, Ohio, the United States Air Force Museum is an amazing place to visit. With hundreds of planes to see, and some to go through, the place brings back the memories of many and educates the young. The museum has 3 full size hangars, but the 1st hangar is split in two rooms with a gift shop going between the two halves of the hangar. The museum has 5 categories; Early Years (Wright Brothers), WWII, Korean War/Modern, Cold War, and Space Technology. There is also two additional exhibits not located within the Museum, but on an active base next to it. The additional exhibits are called the Presidential and R&D. The Presidential exhibit holds the first presidential planes, including Columbian III, The Independence, The Sacred Cow, and SAM26000 (Air Force One). The Research and Development exhibit (abbreviated R&D) holds some quite interesting aircrafts, including the North American Valkyrie.
Here are a few pictures I took while visiting the museum. Please take the time to look at all of them. They are quite remarkable.
You may be wondering, "What does this have to do with the USAF?" Well this a replica of one of the many gates to a concentration and extermination camp developed by the Nazis. The words you see on this gate are on every gate to the camps. They can not be translated with Google Translate or something similar to it.
